Embrace Of Grace
Be honest, how often have you thought something was wrong with you? How often have you wished you were someone else? How often have you been ashamed of yourself? How often have you hoped that by some miracle you would FINALLY change into a better person?
🤣 Haha! I could fill WEEKS sharing with you all of the negative thoughts about myself that I constantly ruminated on in the past. 😬 Of course, I also had moments of self-acceptance, however, these only occurred when I succeeded in something. Good performance meant good self-image, bad performance meant bad self-image. Self-acceptance JUST BECAUSE OF WHO I AM was not something I was acquainted with.
On top of my already super poor self-esteem, I was taught that God loved me ALTHOUGH I was a sinner... ALTHOUGH so much was wrong with me... ALTHOUGH I fell short of so many things. Yes, He loves me DESPITE all my shortcomings and that IS great news indeed. 🎁
But this is only half the truth. 🤷🏻♀️ If we stay right there and move no further, we are in serious trouble. Yes, we’re in serious trouble because this viewpoint spotlights only ONE side of the coin - in this case our weak points and flaws - that, by the way, WE ALL HAVE!!! If we constantly accentuate the state of our imperfection, this is where our mental energy flows. In fact, as we keep emphasizing our deficiencies, we will inevitably produce MORE deficient thinking and behavior! And that surely is NOT what God had intended. 👑
We ought to take ourselves one step further and fall into the Embrace of Grace. ❤️ We have to start looking BEYOND our flaws, sins, and deficiencies. Why should we do that? Well, because they’ve already been taken care of at the cross!!! Forever! Period! Exclamation mark! Seriously... why do we still focus on something that has already been removed? It makes no sense. No sense at all. 🙈
We need to look at ourselves through the eyes of GRACE. Through the eyes of love, forgiveness and complete, utter acceptance. We have to STOP looking at our weak spots and START gazing at the GOLD within us. ✨ Believe me, it’s there. No matter how many years you’ve beaten yourself up for being YOU, no matter how long you’ve tried to be DIFFERENT than who you really are - the GOLD is still there. It cannot be taken away from you EVER. There may be some dust on it or it might have been pushed down a little, but it’s still THERE. 💯 The GOLD in you, the perfection of WHO YOU ARE at your core, your gifts and calling are irrevocable, and they can NEVER be withdrawn. That’s been decided. Read it for yourself in Romans 11:29. ☀️
Now you might wonder if that is an unbalanced view of things as well? If we only focus on our strong qualities and disregard our inadequacies, isn’t that simply the other side of the coin, the other half of the truth? And didn’t you say, Magdalena, that we were in serious trouble when we looked at only ONE side of the coin? Great question, thank you! 😉 Here’s the deal:
First of all, I’ll repeat it again and again, our sins have been taken care of! God doesn’t think of them anymore, so why do you?
Secondly, did you know that our brains were actually pre-wired for love and connection? That’s what we’ve been made for! 😍 There are no circuits for fear in our brains. We only feel fear when we get off the natural pathway of love. Which can totally happen in this crazy world and time. 🤪 BUT we have the capacity to get back on track to our natural state of love through our own choosing and thinking. So, choose well. ❤️
Thirdly, we have to understand that with the Western schooling system, we’ve been taught from a very young age to leave our natural path of love and connection. We were trained to focus on the things we lack, our weak spots. “You’ve got an A in writing? That’s great! Oh, but you’ve got a C in math! We have to work on that!!!! We have to work on that REEEEEEAL hard so that you can ace ALL of the subjects.” Instead of looking at the strengths of each child, doing our best to ENHANCE the strong areas, we push our children to be perfect in all areas. It’s like telling a fish it has to learn how to climb a tree (become perfect in math) when the fish’s gift is actually swimming in the sea (writing).
As we’ve become so used to concentrating on the negative, we have to TRAIN our brain to FINALLY pay attention to all the amazing GOLD within us: our unique personality, the gifts, the talents, our calling, our strengths, and yes, even acknowledging our quirks as perfectly right! You are perfectly YOU! Emphasizing and trying to change your insufficiencies is not helping anyone. In fact, the fish is gonna die on land. 😮
Let’s throw the fish back into the water where it belongs! 💦 Yes, it’s time for a shift. It’s time for new thinking. It’s time to rewire and retrain our brain back to the original intent of love and connection. It’s time to see the GOLD within us. 🥰👑 Let’s fall into the Embrace of Grace. ❤️
